Nicci Crowther
We are sorry to tell you that Nicci Crowther died in November 2008. She was a wonderful colleague and friend, who worked as a media training consultant in Tbilisi, Georgia with Susannah Ross and Hazel Slavin in 2005.
Nicci was an award-winning producer, director and writer who started her television career at the BBC, where she worked for sixteen years in the Education Department. She made everything from documentaries to magazine programmes, from pre-school puppet shows to entertainment and drama.
Her company, Squeeze Productions, specialised in programmes for children and young people. She was a mentor for the UK Film Council’s First Light initiative for young people
As a member of BBC TV's Equal Opportunities committee and then a Board Member of Women in Film and Television UK, she was heavily involved in initiatives to increase diversity in her industry.
Nicci filmed in Ethiopia, India and Ghana. In Kenya, she worked with villagers near Watamu, to set up community libraries through the Akili Trust.
