Training
We offer training in databases, mainly Microsoft Access, and in managing websites, as well as in a number of other computer-based skills.
Access tuition
Our training is designed for people who have a job they want to do in Access, rather than just want to learn Access skills.
Our speciality is to combine Access training with database development and advice (see
Consultancy). This unusual combination allows our clients to make fast progress, concentrating on their own applications and what they want from their data.
A typical course of tuition would involve 10 steps:
discuss the client's data and requirements
introduce database essentials and data management
design an initial data model
explain the data model and develop further with client
build tables and relationships (to be repeated with client)
populate the database with existing data en bloc (eg from spreadsheets)
build one or two basic data entry forms
learn to enter data and create forms
build the first few basic queries and reports
learn more about queries and reports
And finally, prepare to go it alone.
Website management
Where we have built a website for a client, we believe it is important for them to have control over their websites, so we provide short parcels of tuition - either online or on-site - to allow them to manage and update their sites.
