Jumieges Church - watercolour by Janet Treloar

Janet Treloar exhibited paintings primarily of ordinary churches, not cathedrals, churches where ordinary people praised and wept and prayed. Some were pilgrimage churches, reminding us of inner search. Romanesque is sometimes said to be the language of the heart whereas Gothic is of the mind. And the rounded arch can allude to oneness, wholeness, what is complete.

Francis Hoyland

The way of the Cross, painting by Francis HoylandFrancis Hoyland studied at the Camberwell School of Art from 1946-1949. He has exhibited at Gallery de Seine, South London Art Gallery, Beaux Arts Gallery and his religious pictures have been displayed in Southwark, Chichester and Southwell Minster. He has written and broadcast on art for BBC Radio and television.

Francis was exhibiting his painting The Way of the Cross.

His series of the 14 Stations of the Cross is in Needham Market Parish Church, Suffolk, and his 91 Etchings on the Life of Christ are in the Print Room of the British Museum.

Sam Hacking

The Tree on Whiteway Drove - painting by Sam HackingSam Hacking studied Fine Art at the Slade School of Art, London, from 2002-2006.

"These paintings represent me and my desire to go places physically that I find difficult going to on account of a fear of the great outdoors most of my life. Sometimes I embody travelling pylons across the fields or maybe just a solitary tree, gripping the ground and trying not to look up into that beautiful space that will try to consume me."

The Art Barn

'messy art class' The Art Barn offers art classes for small children.
