Speaking engagements
These are some of the groups that have invited Susan to speak at their events:
Bosham Forum
Susan gave a talk to the Bosham Forum in West Sussex, after which Penny Freeman wrote to say how much she had enjoyed it:
"This was the first Bosham Forum talk we have been to. Yours sounded so interesting and fun we decided to give it a go. Which it certainly was and a great tonic to laugh so much with miserable weather outside!"
The Children's Society
Susan was guest speaker at a literary lunch in the Bishop's Palace in Winchester, in aid of The Children's Society. The hostess, Lou Scott-Joynt, wife of the then Bishop of Winchester, said:
"Susie is a witty and well-informed speaker with a wondrous way with words. I would definitely give her a Gold Star."
Windlesham Conservative Ladies' Committee
Michael Gove's constituency association ladies' committee held a packed Spring Luncheon at Windlesham Golf Course. The Chairman, Suzan Woods, said that even before her time to speak, Susan was the ideal lunch guest:
"Her life is so varied and her interest so quick that you know you have something in common, even though you may have never met before. Susan's talk was typically packed with information, varied with stories, top speed, hugely enjoyable and most importantly totally professional."
English Speaking Union
The Chairman of the Exeter and District Branch of the English Speaking Union, Dr. Laurie Burbridge, said:
"Your talk was much enjoyed and very well received by everyone present. It really was most appropriate for our Christmas party. It was a pleasure to meet you and to hear of your most interesting life."
Women's Institutes
Susan spoke at the Suffolk East Federation of WIs' St. George's Day Luncheon. Gillian Slaughter said Susan's talk was fantastic:
"People I have seen since thought you were wonderful, interesting and amusing. They said 'even her outfit was marvellous'. I do hope you enjoyed yourself half as much as we did."
Brenda Horton, East Sussex Federation of WIs said:
"Members enjoyed your talk immensely and your rapport with the audience was really wonderful. You were a HIT!"
University of the Third Age
From Esther Jones, Speaker's Secretary U3A, Petersfield, Hants:
"Our more than a hundred members enjoyed Susan's first talk so much that we have asked her back to give a second."
Lecture association
Susan spoke to the Darlington Lecture Association in their 127th Year. Afterwards, John Jarvis wrote to her:
"Thank you for your delightful talk. I know everyone very much enjoyed their evening. You know your facts, present them in an amusing way and your cheerful personality made it seem so much fun. As one member said 'I enjoyed it because it was so different from anything we've had before!' What is more my wife loved your outfit, a really superb colour combination..."
