Handel House Museum - concert and visit

6-30 - 7-30pm at the Handel House Museum, 25 Brook Street, London W1 (just off Bond Street).

Masumi Yamamoto performS a solo programme of works by JS Bach and Froberger on the Bruce Kennedy double-manual harpsichord. Tickets: £6.00 adults, £5.00 concessions.

Arrive early to get a chance to look round this fascinating little Museum before the concert starts (see their website: www.handelhouse.org).

Live link-up to the Metropolitan Opera House, New York for their production of the final instalment of, as Anna Russell says, 'the only opera that comes in the giant economy package'. This will be epic. Fabio Luisi conducting; Deborah Voigt as Brunhilde; Gary Lehman as Siegfried. 384 mins of total music drama.

Summer reading group 2011


The summer reading group took place on Thursday evenings in July and August 2011

The programme included:

  • MUSIC: Richard Strauss Vier letzte Lieder and Mahler Rückert Lieder
  • BOOKS: Wende literature - short stories - more details to follow
  • FILM: Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei
  • BOOKS: Heinrich Böll short stories
  • BOOKS: Alfred Döblin Berlin Alexanderplatz - opening sequence and selected passages
