This form of work is usually successful with younger people, especially when there are difficulties or challenges with education or work, or the risk of being excluded. I have worked with women of all ages and backgrounds returning to work or education. In this context counselling can help to identify new directions and initiatives to make the necessary changes. Counselling provides the space and support to clarify goals and values, challenge assumptions, and support changes - however small - encouraging a greater sense of personal responsibility and capability.
