Who we are
Susannah Ross is an associate trainer with BBC New Media Training, running courses in Web writing for BBC staff and outside clients. She is the author of the Desktop Guide to Writing for the Web (Chambers 2007, £6.99) and A Simple Guide to Writing for Your Website (Pearson Education 2001). She also works with the commercial writing company Clarity. Susannah was a BBC journalist for 20 years and, as Deputy Editor of World Service News, produced the newsroom Style Book. She does most of the editorial work in Select Ideas.
Julia Swann runs a computer consultancy, Second Power, which specialises in teaching mature people to use the computer. She also advises clients how to create presentations, use images and build databases. She spent ten years as IT Manager at a research consultancy in Covent Garden, managing the firm’s IT and supporting and training some forty staff. She has more than thirty years' experience with computers, has done research into the adoption and impact of IT in the UK office sector and is a qualified teacher. She is responsible for the technical side of Select Ideas.
