Biography
Catharine Robinson studied singing and drama at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she qualified as a teacher of singing (AGSM) and won a singing prize and a scholarship for two years' further study. During this time she fulfilled professional singing engagements and began teaching. Three of her students followed her to the Guildhall and into the profession. Catharine had already proved that she was a natural communicator as performer and teacher.
Catharine became involved with the musical life at Imperial College, as a singing teacher and producer for their Operatic Society. As a tutor for the Marylebone Institute, she held regular master classes for her students who were joined by singers from the music colleges.
Catharine went on to combine a successful singing career with that of singing teacher. She taught at a number of specialist music schools and colleges in London. She sang a wide mezzo-soprano repertoire, including opera, oratorio, concerts and song recitals.
Throughout her career Catharine continued to work with experts in different genres and languages, in particular with pianist and coach Robert Sutherland and singing teachers Erich Vietheer and Eduardo Asquez. All helped to influence her individual style of teaching, which is often described as "inspirational".
Catharine now specializes in teaching singing at her home in Maida Vale from Tuesday to Saturday inclusive.
