Accommodation
The house is fully self contained and extensively equipped to the highest standard. It is most comfortably furnished and there are many books and paintings. Every room has a peaceful river view. The house can sleep a maximum of six guests.
There are three/four bedrooms. We also provide a high chair and a wooden cot with safety mattress for a small baby; you would need to bring cot linen.
The living room
The attractive and spacious living room is twenty-six feet long and leads through a leaded glass door to a wooden balcony overlooking the quay and river. There is a seat on the balcony. The room is pleasantly furnished with a relaxing sofa, easy chairs, family portraits and paintings. An open fireplace, supplied with logs, is laid ready for you to light. The house is also centrally heated with radiators in every room There is a large, locally made, pine table that can seat up to ten people. There is a smaller writing table; a wooden ship's chest of drawers full of games and curios. There are many books to browse through.
The living room has a television, video recorder, DVD player, CD/cassette/radio player and ex-directory ‘phone. The living room windows have exquisite views of the river and of the private garden that is beside the house. This flower filled 'Lady's Garden' has a gate onto the quay. The small lawn has garden furniture and a portable barbeque. The garden is reached by walking down the steps from the balcony or using the gate. It is especially beautiful in Spring and early Summer.
The kitchen
The kitchen has cheerful red tiled worktops, a pine dresser, shelves and cupboards containing everything you might need. There is crockery and glassware etc for ten, so that you can entertain friends. A dishwasher, calor gas cooker, a microwave oven/grill, toaster, kettle and fridge are all there. Just outside the back door there is a laundry room with an automatic washing machine, an electric tumble drier and a freezer for you. The kitchen is warm and appealing, there are three bar stools for casual meals, a hatchway window into the living room with the dining table make things easy for larger family meals. A cool larder, with tiled shelves, makes an ideal drinks cupboard. All kitchen linen and household requirements are in place.The master bedroom
The romantic double bedroom has three windows that look down, up and across the river, also into the garden. It is carpeted and furnished with a king-size double bed, wardrobe and large dressing table. There are books to choose from and the bay window is a wonderful place to sit watching the water and the birds. This bedroom also contains bedside tables and lamps, radiator and a heater for extra cold days.
Other rooms
Next door to the double bedroom is the cosy bunk bed room. The bunks are locally made and are three foot wide and six foot long. They are solid, with thick, comfortable mattresses. The room is ideal for young people and has a view of both the garden and the creek. Books, lamps, cupboards and drawers, as usual, are in here.
The bathroom is small, but has everything you could need. It is panelled with pine and is warm and sunny. There is an electric shower over the bath, hand basin, loo, shelves and heater. Also, there is a downstairs cloakroom with loo and hand basin.
On the first floor, by the living room, is the twin bedded room. The beds are three foot wide singles which are most comfortable, with bedside lamps and tables. The view is of the quay and the creek. There is a painted wardrobe and again many books to choose from.
New extra bedroom option
Guests at Bishops Quay now have the option of using a large extra double bedroom. The light and airy extra bedroom (20' x 11') is just a step across from the door into the main house and has a king-size bed, ensuite bath, shower and loo, television, separate outside door and a balcony with views up and down river.
Choosing to take this extra room would enable three couples to stay at Bishops Quay without using the bunk beds.
The large extra bedroom is available most weeks, and the cost is 1/3 extra on top of the normal weekly rental price. The large extra bedroom cannot be used to accommodate a greater number of guests - no more than six adults / children plus a small baby can stay at any time. General
All linen is provided and beds are made up for your arrival, apart from cot bedding. Bath towels and hand towels are also provided for you.
